A light clock using photons proves the existence of Time Travel - well Time Dilation....or does it?

More questions - who really understands The Theory of Relativity, or, how far did you get with Steve Hawking's Book?

I did a module in relativity at uni but understood so little of it I didn't take the exam. I got the bit about time being relative once you get near the speed of sound but Schroedinger's (sp?) cat lost me.

I just think it if was possible then what are the chances no one has ever come back from the future to explain to us how it works. I guess we could be at the very front of all existences so no one has had the future yet but that must be a pretty long shot.

That's easy. Basically the cat is cheaper to buy in Australia and the UK at the same time. But you don't know which it was until you buy it.

Very valid thread.

Its a bit like, stars in the sky. We can see them, yet they are 1000's of years old. When we look at a star, the light reaching us from the star, has taken so long to get here, we are not seeing it in real time, we are seeing the star from many many 1000's of years ago...

So begs the question, if the star had a GUY on it, with a very powerful telescope, and eyesight that could see faster than the speed of light and he is watching us watching him.. surely he is looking into the future??

Time travel is possible. I once got on a plane in Atlanta, Georgia at 10.00am and arrived in Birmingham, Alabama at 09.45.

So there.

The scientific problem with Schroedinger's cat is that it doesn't get on with Pavlov's dog. When those two get together, all hell breaks loose...

I've no problem understanding relativity but I reckon Hawking was making some of it up.

I leave the pub at 11pm and it should take 35 minutes in a taxi to get home so how come I arrive home at 3am. It must be a worm hole or time dilation???
