It's kind of interesting how the best prices tends to be had with time limited online pricing. Often talking about 30% reductions etc. over the walk-up price.

No it's not for booze

I find Australian duty free alcohol prices, although not as cheap as Singapore of KUL, to be pretty good (well they are at PER anyway)

Last time I came through a few weeks ago, 2l of Bombay Sapphire was $55. Today at DM it's $40 for 0.7l

If you buy a 2 litre bottle do you only have to pay duty on half of it, The one litre portion.... or were two of you travelling.... and is it worth doing that.

I've got my eye on some Heindricks Gin for the return.

A bit of confusion, I meant to say 2x1l. DF allowance for Australia is 2.25l

If you like gin, get the Aldi version while you are over there. One of the best gin's I've ever had. Easily the equal of Hendricks and a total bargain at under GBP10 for a 0.7L bottle. You could get 3 of those in your allowance

I'll keep an eye on the gin. Fags I assume would also be a tad cheaper being a heavy duty attract-er.

Exactly what I found when I went in there. Not much going on. Fitbit HR's were $155 - same price as David Jones.

Dick Smith sale: Discounts mainly on ‘old, private label’ products

Real question is are they going to restock after the 'clearance' sale is done?

If they do, then maybe someone is trying to make things continue - using the sales to clear stock that doesn't move and replace it with more profitable lines. But if we get even closer to christmas and the denuded shelves are left bare, well then it becomes very obvious what the game plan is.

I'm expecting option B

There's a thread on Ozbargain from an ex-DS store manager who spills the beasn on their practices, ethics and attitudes. Makes for interesting reading

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223177

A read an article about the buyout of DS from Woolworths. These dudes took 'creative' accounting to a whole new level and made 2+2=5 when in reality it should have been 3. Problem is they've burnt a whole lot of investors in the process

I got some really cheap cameras on Tuesday and Wednesday, a Logitech Universal Remote, some PS3 games, some $1 cables etc. All good prices but nothing to get exciting about
