Default Afternoon tea in Melbourne

As Mrs Haggis has her birthday next weekend I'm thinking of taking her to the Monet exhibition followed by afternoon tea somewhere - she's a big fan of a spot of tiffin in the afternoon.

If anyone can recommend a very good place, traditional preferably, for afternoon tea it would be much appreciated.

Thanks awfully.

Oh dammit I can't remember the name senility setting in here I think, but there is a fab tea rooms for high tea in one of the arcades. It is old fashioned and does a proper high tea. It's not cheap and so popular you do have to book ahead but I can't for the life of me remember the name. It's a very pretty arcade near the centre I think the Charles Dickens pub is nearbye

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I'm in England still or I would go look.

You could even try the Windsor. Old hotel, a bit shabby even.
Top tip - if she eats too much cake she then might not feel like doing much later.

I am also thinking of taking the wife - the Monet exhibition will do nicely.

I've never been but Hopetoun Tea Rooms in the Block Arcade is very popular. Amazing cake display in the window.

Yes as BCWorld says the Hopetoun tea rooms are the place. I guess you and Mrs Haggis have patched things up for now?

In my view, definitely Hopetoun Tea Rooms in the Block Arcade but be prepared to queue!

I was disappointed with the Windsor.

The NGV does a very nice afternoon tea - and no queueing

Enjoy!
