I am sure that if mohogany was still with us she/he would have started a new thread by now:

There were threats to kill Salman Rushdie for writing a book

I remember a group of hate filled muslims with disgusting death signs about everyone except themselves when they were in uproar about a cartoon of Mohammed. No arrests there.

A Police Force Christmas card with a Police Puppy that made the news because it was offensive, it's these stories time and time again that get on my nerves.

Live and let live, only they don't in general seem able to do that. I object to Govt pussy footing around, a PC culture where everyone bends except them.

Oh and my last peeve is whenever anyone has a non PC thought on here, your a racialist, so be it.

But that isn't what happened in that case - it happened in the area where I'm from and it was more accurately reported in the local papers. No muslims complained about it because it was offensive - I believe a shop owner may have asked not to have the postcards on display - surely they're allowed to decide what they display in their shop? Then the national hate rags got hold of it and it became yet another story of 'PC gone mad' and lapped up by those who like to be enraged.

And therein lies the problem. By creating a nanny PC state everyone has become scared to do or say anything for fear of being labelled a racist.

But they're only labelled racist by (generally speaking) white middle classed do gooders. Ask the vast majority of minority groups in the UK if they have any problems with christmas, baa baa black sheep etc etc etc and they'll think you've lost the plot. They couldn't care less.

Quite correct, theres 100's of examples not just the christmas issue. Big wigs at Natwest and Halifax I remember a few years ago decided to ban advertising of piggy banks so as not to upset muslims. Didn't the fookwits realise non pork eating Jews had been living in Britain since the days of Cromwell???

Idiots like this are just as destrutive as radical islam to British values. The lot of them should be shot

Except there were, and plenty of them too. If you're going to use events like these to support your argument at least recount them correctly, otherwise it could be argued that you are trying to do exactly what BCWorld said the Aussie news rags were trying to do (ie: stir up racial tensions).

I'm reasonable sure that it's excepted that he, if he really existed at all, was a Christian from what is now Israel and was then part of the Roman Empire.
One reason might be is that his father is supposed to be from Cappadocia (as you quoted). Cappadocia is in present day Turkey, but I dont think the Turkish expansion to the west to what is now Turkey had started at the time. He moved to and died in Nicomedia (Izmit, Turkey) So even if you accept he has the origin of his father, or where he lived and died, he woud not have been a Turk.

(I always thought he was an Armenina)

Isn't a bit like lots of people think that King Arthur was English? There was a time when people thought that anyone from that area was a Turk. People even thought turkey (the bird) came from Turkey (whereas the French thought it came from India).
