Thunderbird Park is surprisingly nice and close to home too. We camped at Canungra a few weeks back, but next to the Show Grounds...they had loverly hot showers there :0)
Glad you liked camping :0)

We were originally going to camp near the show grounds but it was the weekend of the Canungra show so all were booked up. We went into the show, it was good. Full of stock men in big hats etc.

We had never camped in England either (apart from a couple of dodgy experiences at rock festivals![EEK!](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
) until we went with friends last year for a weekend camp on the beach.
To say we are hooked is an understatement................whereas all roads used to lead to Bunnings when we first moved here and got the house (are we alone in this?) now we find we are spending an inordinate amount of time at BCF!!!!!
From borrowing a 2 man 'pup' tent from a mate and sleeping bags from rellies we are now proud owners of a 6 berth, 2 bedroom tent (with awning!!!) our own camping stove and various other camping essentials. We have the air matress, the very comfy sleeping bags, lamps of every description, and shed loads of useful things you didn't know you needed 'til you saw them on the shelf in BCF!!!
OH is now considering buying fishing gear even though he's only had two go's and caught...................his mates t-shirt (with his mate still in it![ROFL](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
) and a rather suspicious looking jelly fish thing that was already dead!
Not tried camping on a site but a run down the beach for a weekend with good friends and grog is on the cards most weekends during the spring and summer now.
