10 years in!

Just thought I'd stop by and say I've now been here in Australia for 10 years! I was going to type up a huge missive on the occasion but realised it can all be summed up in one song! Neil diamonds, "I am, I Said"

Hi everyone, and a big hello to all the other volunteer self exiled convicts out here.

Re: 10 years in!

Congratulations for giving it a fair go. Are you happy with your lot?

Multiply your 10 years by 5 and that was my incarceration! However it was generally a worthwhile experience, I don't understand those who give up quickly, it takes time to adapt and fit in to a different life.

Nice to see you Arkon, I do love to see 'old' faces. Hope life isn't as bad as you make it sound ;)

No life isn't bad, it's just not home. But now I've been here so long that home will probably not feel like home by the time I can go back.

I bet there's a lot of people across BE who can relate to that song. Good luck mate.

Yes, Happier but not content if that makes any sense. I get to see my son all the time. That is the once really great thing about Australia. The system here defaults to 50/50 and you would have to be very bad indeed for the courts to rule against you. So I get every other week, PLUS probably another 2 or 3 days in her week (Well mornings and after school plus when he asks for a play date with his dad). Last time I tallied up my diary I had him for 83% of the year so not bad at all.

I know way too many fathers in the UK that are lucky if they have one weekend per fortnight. (I don't get much work done though!:D)

That's the problem! We are constantly weighing up the return option but time is running out, tooth-length-wise.

Hi Arkon. How's the old science fiction stuff going?
You were big on that if I recall.

Good, yes, I'm well into sci fi. In the middle of creating an epic sci fi game at the moment for tablets etc.

Sounds like that "Son of Elite" that was going at one time to take the world of games by storm.

Maybe not at first, but within a relative nano second it will, as it is and always will be!

Glad to hear you're more resigned to being there now Arkon, well more than when I was last on here, stuck on your farm in whoop whoop.

And hi to everyone else!

I've been home over 6 years now which I can't believe, it's flown by.
Bestest of luck to all of you wanting to come back. It's worth it. Even on wet winters days, preceded by weeks of the same, wild horses wouldn't drag me back, unless it was a jaunt to see my friends :)
