$90 million Oz Lotto buyers guide
Just in case you have missed it Tuesday sees the biggest ever Lotto draw in Australian history. Oz Lotto has been jackpotting (rolling over) for at least 8 weeks and now stands at $90 million.
Many expats are confused with the different options in investing in a ticket so here is a quick guide.
Although Oz Lotto is a nationwide game this guide applies to QLD only as each state has its own operators.
Oz Lotto is drawn from 1 - 45 with 7 numbers per game. The most popular option is a 'quickpick' (luckydip) ranging from 6 games for $6.40, 12 games $12.70, 18 games $19.00, 24 games $25.40 & 36 games $37.80.
A coupon can be filled in with a minimum of 1 game costing $1.10
Systems entry - from system 8 to system 15 - instead of 7 numbers per game additional numbers can be added - system 8 $8.50, system 9 $38.20 system 10 $124.30.
Store syndicates - A lotto agency sets up larger priced tickets and sells shares in the for example a system 11 with 6 shares costs $56.08 per share.
My recommendation for the best ticket? probably a syndicate share which gives a greater number of games with more numbers.

Re: $90 million Oz Lotto buyers guide
Hubby decided to pick his own numbers for next week instead of doing the quick pick. Took him half an hour to work out what to do what with the system thing and something else that confused him . He'd better win. Did my head in, I was trying to watch Masterchef and he kept asking daft questions

I think it is worth pointing out how some of these work. I was confused, so hope this helps (unless I am wrong and someone knows whats right)
The standard entry of picking numbers is a one shot effort. You must get all 7 numbers to win. Jackpot only.
If you do a system, you have the supplementals come into play. This means you can win the division prizes ie 6 numbers + suppl = div 1, 6 numbers = div 2 down to 3 numbers + 1 suppl = div 6 ?. So system 8 gives 7 numbers plus a supplemental and all its combos (in some other games I think you have to pick the supplemental numbers) which is 8 games of 7 numbers and one suppl. This costs $9.60. So system 9 gives lots more combos and so costs a lot more and so on
If you sign up with http://www.ozlotteries.com/ you get a free $90M game. When I signed up I got 2 free games on the Wed draw (I get nothing from you signing)
Not as good as UK lotto as £1 gives you a number of chances with smaller prizes

This site is a reseller of tickets - you can buy Lotto online but at the official sites.

yes I know, the point I was making is that you get a free ticket. You get the free one even if you don't buy any from their site. edit: you don't need a credit card or other payment details when you sign up

$90m lottery jackpot leads to buying frenzy

One in three Aussies will buy a ticket
IF YOU believe in astrology, Librans and Scorpians have a better chance than others of winning it. If you believe in numerology, those who choose numbers divisible by three could get lucky.
But if you believe in mathematics, you are more likely to die in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday night's $90 million Oz Lotto jackpot is drawn than actually win the prize.
