Separation

I believe you have to be separated for a year prior to a marriage dissolving, I would like to know if you have to acquire the service of a lawyer for this process or can you get the paperwork from somewhere and submit it yourself. Thank you in advance.

By marriage dissolving do you mean applying for a divorce??
