Sherry, any other school, other than Codrington, would require your daughter to sit the 11plus/Common Entrance Exam to move on to any other Secondary school, including private. (this would be just like any child being the Barbados system and going to or returning to the UK and attending schools that have entrance exams.. I know not all do but many still do).

There are only a handful of private secondary schools.. The Ursuline Convent School has both primary and secondary (girls only). St. Winifred also primary and secondary (both male and female) and you may also want to contact Providence as well as they have a fairly new secondary school program, both male and female.

You may also want to speak to the primary schools and the ministry of education about having her defer and start in Class 3 and take the 11plus the following year. I would assume that the ministry may want to test her to see where she stands before giving the go ahead for that, but ..if you don't ask, you would never know..

Hey Sunniebgi

Thanks so much for your advice and I think that even sounds like the better option, if its possible - so she would at least stand a good chance of doing well. I will definitely ask the schools when I visit them in January and give the ministry a call :)
