parent has booked 4 week holiday with us over here!
 

Hi - can anyone help?

My mother in law has booked a holiday with us next spring after being advised that she probably wouldn't be guaranteed a 4 week VISA. Does anyone really know the facts? Will she be allowed in?

28 days is the standard stamp at the airport.. unless I'm completely incorrect.. that's usually what it is... if that is what her ticket says, she should be fine.

On checking with her last night, she appears to have booked flights 35 days apart! That's 5 weeks! Will she still be allowed in?

I wouldn't worry.. honestly.. that's what her ticket is for.. it's a few days over the norm, but sometimes they give a bit longer. she is staying with you.. who lives here.. and she has a ticket to return.. they may say.. 28days and then you have to go in for an extension.. but she will be gone before they ever give her the extension soooo.. I wouldn't stress over it.

Hi Julie,

My mum and step dad visit every year for around 5 weeks and they always get a stamp at the airport that expires the day there ticket says they are leaving.

We've had relatives staying for 6 weeks and more.. if they tell the immigration officer at the airport and have the return ticket to hand to show then there has been no problems their passport has been stamped for the duration of their visit so there has been no need to go down town...
