moving from uk to barbados

Hi,
My husband and I are hoping to move to Barbados, we will be buying a property outright, have savings and a large monthly pension so will not be a drain on the Barbados system.
Do we need any kind of visa or permit to stay indefinately?
What would we need and how much if necessary is health insurance. We are both in good health.
If we bought a large enough house would we be able to open as a guest house/bed and breakfast?
Hope someone can answer our queries
Thank you
:fingerscrossed:

Re: moving from uk to barbados

Hi Molly and welcome

Please have a read around the forum and you will get your answers to all these questions in detail but to summarise..you are welcome to buy whatever in Barbados..some of the caribbean do not let you buy unless you have links..however this has no reflection on how long you are allowed to stay. It is just like UK or America anyone can buy a house but doesnt mean anything if you turn up at Gatwick and state i own a house and am coming here to live in it..they would say nope ya not lol

So short answer is yes you need permission to stay indefinitley...I am not an expert on retired people and what options you get now with pensions and stuff as a lot has changed in past few years as they have tightened up the entry requirements..someone on here might be able to help you but if not google retiring to barbados or look on their government link

As for bed and breakfast the short answer is running a business is subject to your status on the island..if your not entitled to be there then no you cant.
