Morning All, be gentle.

me and my wife got married in barbados and have been back a few times since. Its our favourite place. Our kids are getting older so we are looking at potentially moving over for 6 months of the year. Im pretty active and would like to start a snorkeling excursion company via a nice speadboat, targeting tourists and cruise ships (to tie me over), does anyone have any big does and donts to get the ball rolling for me?

Hi Martin and welcome to the forum

There is no easy way to say other than the truth that unless you have status ie by marriage, descent, birth or special permission (usually granted to high income individuals or retirees on certain conditions) then the chances of being allowed on the island for set periods at a time are scarce.

Even if you were allowed to stay you would not be allowed to work without a Work permit.

A Work permit is either given to an individual based on a company sponsorship or if what they bring to the island is in demand and not easily available ie a doctor.

What you propose is already in easy supply by locals who cater for the ships and tourist etc as it is the mainstay of the islands income so unfortunately it is very very unlikely that on all counts your thoughts as advised above will likely to come to fruition.

Other islands are less stringent but Barbados is the jewel in the Caribbean crown when it comes to GDP etc so to gain entrance and live and work you have to be coming with something outside the box and required
