Importing Pet to Barbados from Unlisted Third Country
I want to take my pet from Honduras to Barbados and know I must go via the UK I have done all the research I can, got all the necessary docs required under the PETS Scheme however, I cannot afford the costs of a pet shipping service from US to UK then UK to Barbados then what with the import, duty and VAT to pay on arriving in Barbados! Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience or can advise on minimizing these costs? I am heartbroken that I may have to leave my pet behind due to the expense.

A good place to look would be www.IPATA.com - you may be able to find a pet shipper on there who can source the cheapest / easiest route for you.

A pet dog a min pin. At the last count all costs from here to Barbados total over $6,000 US. There are no cheap routes, it's a lucrative business. The vet in Honduras SPS ask $550 US to take and send the blood sample for the rabies test and issue a certificate which I already received from the Lab in Kansas. The blood test only costs $83 and $50 for return delivery!!!
