Hoping to change my life for the better
 

Hi all you blessed expats in sunny, warm Barbados. Im still in Britain, dreaming of living in Barbados. I Was there for 2 months last Nov to Jan and loved my time there.

So im SERIOUSLY thinking of immigrating but not sure if I can get work there. Im a highly qualified childcare professional, adult trainer & Assessor as well as a beauty therapist specialising in facial hair removal using the threading technique.

What do u think, anyone out there think I could earn an 'above the breadline living' in Barbados with these skills?

Please read through this site for information, but in a nutshell, unless you are Barbadian by birth and wanting to move back, a barbadian by descent and have applied for citizenship or already married to a Barbadian and you have applied for citizenship that way, you will need a work permit for any of the positions you are put down.

Work permits these days are very very hard to come by. Even if you open up your own child care (which would mean government approval etc) you couldn't work for yourself without the work permit.

the Beauty therapist, specializing in threading might work if there is a salon willing to do a work permit for you and even then it might not be that easy and the adult trainer and assessor (in what field??) may also prove to be a problem.

it's not as easy as it sounds and I'm painting a bleak picture because.. it's just not as easy as one might think.
