I'm a pie eater - love my pies - miss them and proper bacon more than anything else in Barbados ....

SO it was an absolute joy & pleasure to see Steak & Kidney pie on the menu at 39 Steps ... and boy oh boy was it nice??? Lovely ... only other place on island I ever enjoyed it was at that place in Maxwell .... Charlies.

But where can I get a good proper bacon sarnie? I'd pay good money for one!

Not sure that you will find a Bacan sarnie on the island unless you make it yourself. I'm a fan of 39Steps, and have a friend who, every time he is in Barbados, goes there just about every day for lunch and he gets the steak and kidney pie..

Where is 39 steps?? Ship Inn do a wicked pie and chips - proper chips like mum used to cook - Charlie's do a decent sunday lunch with yorkshire pud etc

39 steps is on the coast road, between Hastings and B'town, behind the Coffee Bean. Attached to or beside the Amaryllis Resort. Very nice restaurant.

beside the Savannah hotel on the south coast. Been in the same spot for 16 plus years. First restaurant I ever went to in Barbados.. Still run by the same people.

If you are willing to make your own.......bacon can be bought at "Brits corner shop" at the Rockley golf course. Apparently they have M&S sausages too.

Oh it has been said a good "fry up" can be had at "Happy Days" in St Lawrence Gap....chattel village.
