Default Filling prescriptions from home in Barbados

Hi all,

Has anyone brought prescriptions from home to Barbados, and gotten their refills in Barbados based on the refill allowance listed on the packaging? (does that question even make sense?)

Just wondering if I should get my doc here in Canada to write me all new prescriptions and get them filled in BB, or if I can do refills there like I would at home. Only a few days/weeks to get that sorted out. We arrive on July 3!

Thanks everyone,
Foxy

HI Foxy. you might find that you are able to get the perscriptions filled without even having to have a perscription. example. I take Zyrtec D, not all the time, but the first time was with a perscription from the doctor. I was told I didn't need a perscription, so the next time I got it, I just asked and it was despensed no problems. it actually means that I can get it here before I travel to the US, cause I can't get it in the US without the script (and they will not take a perscription from a doctor in Barbados. Now that might also happen to you.. not sure if the Pharmacy/Despinsary will take a perscription from a foreign Doctor.

Having said that.. you may also find that they don't actually have exactly your medication, but might over a different one which is the same but a different name. and also (as is often the case with my Zyrtec D) you may find that the local distributor is out of stock, and since there may only be one or 2 local medications distributor here in Barbados, this might happen while you are here.

Soooo.. having said all that.. You may not want to take the chance, and bring with you what you think you might need for the time you will be in Barbados. Just to be on the safe side.
