Does Amazon ship to Barbados?
 

Hi again. I need some text books that I've not been able to find in local stores. Does anyone know if Amazon or other USA based on-line sellers ship to B'dos, and if so, how fast and costs please? Thanks

Hi Cessj,

Have you tried the Kindle?
That way you can do all your transactions on-line.
It will never replace the feel of a text book though!

yes they do ship.. but what type of text books.. have you checked the University Book store?? or BCC bookstore?? ..There is a company called The Book Source.. this company brings in the books for BCC (Barbados Community College) is incredibly expensive if you order something through them (or at least it was for a book I was looking for). but you can check with.

Hi, thanks for your response...I have a Kindle but hate it...there is nothing, just nothing, like the feel and texture and smell of a real book....but in terms of ease and costs, I think I'm going to have to go down the Kindle route...thanks for reminding me of this unused resource!

Thanks for advice re BCC bookstore...where is it located? I checked the UWI bookstore, not available there...another poster suggested buying via Kindle...not my preference but a workable solution, providing books are available in Kindle version and some of them are not, nor in e-book version either..

They are located on the campus of the Barbados Community College.. if they are specific course books, you may not find them here.. check the BCC listing in the phone book and call. you can then contact Book Source (if they don't already have them here) and check the cost of getting it in.

Also, contact Zen Bookstore, 8th Avenue Belleville, St. Michael 436-2228 .. it's a used bookstore however these ladies also bring in books or can order for you ..

I agree about the need to hold the actual book in my hand...

Yes Amazon will ship books direct from the the UK to here. Approx cost is about 10 GBP extra for a large ish book

No duty on books.

As for Amazon, I was thinking more about using their USA site as it's presumably cheaper and quicker than the UK site?

My husband found textbooks to be lower cost there. And, as far as I know, they will ship anywhere.
