Deportations

Just heard an expat I know has got deported - dont know details as im not there - has anyone else heard anything about deportations?

I am 10 months into my renewal application and still getting the old chestnut oh its still under review - and i own the bloody company lol so not like im taking a bajan job - im now thinking they just waiting for people like me to give up and leave as they got no reason to say no to me - got a gf in exactly same boat and must say that we are both battle weary so maybe they will achieve their aim. I just wish if they was gonna say no they would do it and stop stringing us along as its not fair to live with the threat of being told next week leave the island in 2 weeks time as you cannot make any types of plans ie renew insurance, rental contracts etc on this basis

Re: Deportations

I just wanted to say that I think this really bites the big one. I don't know who you are talking about and I hope I don't know them. I know that , just recently someone has kind of just picked up and left the island, but I don't think this is the situation as the wife is Bajan and husband is british.. sooo..

It is not an easy way to live and I really think this administration has done a very very bad job at dealing with Work Permits, passports, etc. On the flip side, I think it's also terrible for people to just think they can waltz in here and think they can just live here without going through the proper channels.. I'm not just talking brits and talking many other people. Jobs being advertised and just from the advertisement you know that in 2 weeks time you are going to see the application for work permit. Companies have someone already on the payroll so that no bajan, even qualified ones, could possibly be even be in the running for a job.

Owner ship of a company, as far as I'm concerned, is something totally different. How can you own a company and not run it (well ok, it can be done, but.. ).. and that is where I think immigration is wrong and certain criteria has to be set up for that.

Anyway.. What ever you do.. make sure you have on proper attire (whatever that means - long sleeves, long skirt, long pants, fully covered) next time you head down to immigration or to registration or to the law courts.. or you will get turned away.. even if you are just going to collect a form to register a baby.. (no lie)..
