Cost of Private Tuition at CSEC level.
 

Hi, I am in the process of relocating to Barbados and would like to know if anyone knows the availability and cost of Private Tuition at Secondary School level. Is there any demand for Private Tuition in Barbados?

if you are are asking if there is a want or need for Extra Lessons (private tutoring) at the CSEC level in Barbados, much depends on the course. Many teachers in the Barbados School System offer what we call extra lessons to students.. some have classrooms built into extra rooms in their homes and have 15-20 students at a time studying.. some are one on one..

the cost to a parent/student for this is on average about 50.00 bbd per hour to 2 hours depending on the teacher, class size etc..

and yes.. people are always looking for private tutors.. but as said.. it depends on the subject. AND around here,, if you aren't for the Caribbean, you might not be teaching what the Caribbean wants you to teach on their CSEC/CXC exams..

I teach Science at the moment in the UK, and from looking at the CSEC course it is very similar to what I teach here. I would be looking at trying to establish myself as a Private Tutor in Barbados while trying to find a full time Teaching post.

Science comes in 4 possible courses.. Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Integrated Science for the CXC (Caribbean examinations Council) Exams. Check out their website cxc.org to see what you can come up with.
