Re: Children Taking the 11+ Exam

the Barbados Secondary Schools Common Entrance Exam (11plus) is taken in May, generally the first Tuesday. The results come out about 3 to 5 weeks after.

this is actually a test that the school "teach" to from primary Class 1 to Class 4. Revision is usually done in the Class 4/J4/Upper 4 year.. but new concepts are also learned during that year.

it's only Maths and English and a composition written as well.

http://www.mes.gov.bb/pageselect.cfm?page=14 This link shows the curriculum from the Barbados Ministry of Education.. note that in Primary school they are only , at the point, tested for Maths and English to move on to secondary school. There was talk of adding Science, but I have no idea when or if that will happen. my son was tested in his Class 2 year for science and social studies skills but no mention has been made as to whether these will be included in this years exam (my son will do his exam in May 2013).
