Default Childcare for 10 month old - desperate!!!!

I'm moving to the island at the end of September with my 10 month old son. His father and I will both be working so he needs to be in care during the day.

I am trying to find out about good nurseries on the West coast or near Warrens, where I'll be working. We will be living in Holders Hill.

I am white British and my partner is black Bajan, its important to us that our son has a nursery that is ethnically mixed.

I've found a nursery in Warrens called Warrens 123, does anyone know of it?

I've been recommended Montessori schools but they only take children from 2yrs old.

A nanny would be another option - is there a nanny agency I could contact?

I've googled 'good childcare Barbados' to death and am not getting much help there.

I'm getting desperate now as I'll need to get him registered within the next month.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You have plenty of options while you are there. I know of a couple in Warrens. There is a christian day-care owned by an elderly lady, maybe I can help if you still dont find anything, but once you are there you will see that Bajans are very helpful and will offer you their assitance. Also I have lots of friends on the island that can offer nanny assitance. Let me know if you need their numbers so I can get in touch of them.

My daughter goes to Warrens 123, but is in the pre school (2+). We love it, it's predominately local (our daughter is mixed). Under 2 they are housed in another building - and I'm not sure how much time is spent out of the playpens. The website is http://warrenspreschools.com and you could call and speak to the principal - her name is Kim.

P.S. most of the pictures on the website are of the pre school.

Good luck.

We've decided to rent a smaller place and have a nanny. The thought of him being left in a playpen all day was too much!

But, I hear Warrens 123 is good.

did you have any luck on mum and baby groups my daughter is deperate for socialisation with other children.

Hi,

There is a young lady that baby-sat for me before. I spoke to her today and she will be more than willing if you are interested in a nanny situation. Her name is Pat, she is also in St.James Tel 250-7852. I've known her for a very long time. Feel free to call.............
