Barbados Sport / Gym

Hi everyone. I am new to the site and have just agreed to a move out to Barbados with work in the New Year.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any rugby clubs on the island and if anyone could recommend a good gym?

Im a 25 year old bloke so getting some exercise is a must!

Cheers

Welcome!

Lots of gyms on the island, many of them smallish. Surfside is more like North American/European gyms - larger, A/C, lots of classes. I don't go there, but I've tried them. Main drawback for me was the traffic around Wildey and the cost of Surfside. Otherwise, I really liked them.

I'm not sure where you're staying, but a number of hotels on the south coast offer gym memberships to their workout facilities.

Can't help you with the rugby, although I think someone has asked about it before. Are you interested in other activities?

Best of luck with your move.

Hey welcome to Barbados. I moved here about 8 months back and joined up at a gym in oistins along the coast road. Its called oceans 2 gym above a supermarket, fantastic AC and some pretty good equipment. I go most evenings and seems to be a good crowd. Not sure about the rugby but i see someone already covered that one for ya. I wouldn't mind joining up for some rugby myself! 22yr old guy from england btw. Oh and this is my first post!

There are four rugby teams on the island who play in a league between August and April on the Garrison. I play for the Emperors and we are always looking out for new players. We train on the Garrison every Wednesday and Friday from 4.30pm. We have a lot of younger local players playing for us whom are new to the game so we are not the best team but we are improving every week and the guys certainly enjoy themselves so feel free to come down to training. We are in dire need of a scrum half!!

Hi All,

Im sorry i have taken so long to reply and thank you for your replies- ludicrous internet issues in Cardiff!!!

Anyway cheers for the info, I lived in Trinidad for 12months last year and visited Barbados a few times so know where a few of the places mentioned are. Think I will be living near to Holetown so the Garrison won't be a million miles away if i remember correctly. I actually played Scrum Half growing up!

Looks like I will be over in early January so hopefully then if people dont mind I could contact some of you guys and fix some stuff up.

Cheers
