Barbados personal allowance

Hi everyone!
I got a job offer in Barbados. I was making enquiries regarding the income tax over there and was told that for the first year, I will not be entitled to the BDS$25,000 personal allowance as must be residing in Barbados for 183 days or more in order to receive this benefit. Can anyone confirm this or shed some light?

That is the way which the Inland Revenue pages describe it, I understood that it would be taxed at a flat rate of 25%.
