Allergies

I have a problem and I am hoping someone can give me some good advice. My family is presently living in Barbados and every morning my daughter gets up with puffy and red eyes and a blocked nose. I have been giving antihistamine tablets they give her temporary relief. Has anyone else heard or knows anyone that suffers with the allergies and how do they get relief. Awaiting any urgent replies.

well that's funny.. as my oldest daughter has been suffering with that for years.. I mostly have given her Histal decongestant and antihistamine to help with that. I've also put it down to a family trait rather than environmental ( as I take after my mother with sneezing often in the morning.. but once it's gone it's gone)..

However.. what I can tell you is this.. where I come from it's called Hay Fever and it usually happens in the spring.. but in Barbados, when the Cane Arrows come out (those feathering looking things) and when the grasses can get long and feathery looking, the same thing happens.. I use a zyrtec D or equivalent almost every day..

I'd probably recommend trying to see a doctor to see if there is something that you can give to her.. but.. she may just have to endure the process.. A good Sea bath and some salt water in her nose will help with all of those things as well.

Thanks a lot for the advice. There is a plot of land next to which tends to be overgrown at times. I told her to sleep with her windows closed and from that time she has not suffered with puffy and swollen eyes.

It was the grass all along. Bajans don't like keeping their area of land low I will have to call the relevant people to have it cut.

Thanks again.
