No time! All the washing up, ironing etc. leaves little time for swanning around on BE.

Re: Seven Months
God, how I wish I'd become a ballet dancer instead of a bloody librarian. Mind you, I suspect if I had, my arthritis and knee problems etc. would be even worse.

Re: Seven Months
Great update! So glad to hear it's going well. We've been back nearly a month and are very happy. Do not miss LA. I think we were completely ready to leave LA this time whereas last time my husband didn't really want to leave.
All the best! |

Re: Seven Months
After all those years of wanting to move back, I'm really pleased it's working out and you're happy.

It was tough getting used to buying my own printer paper and printer cartridges... Nice being able to go to the UK for six or ten weeks at a time though

Re: Seven Months
Great update Sally. I agree with your comments on the general negativity from people. When we left the UK just over 2 years ago, I can't say that Chavs etc formed any part of my life. And I don't believe it's changed that much since then. Where you live plays a big part in this!
We just completed on our house and are staying in short term holiday accomodation before we fly out. We have managed to secure a rental home and our container is waiting at the port to be loaded. We are getting there, not too long now! |

My husband's family live on a Gatehead council estate; a lot of the women just seem to have a 'Croydon facelift' hairdo, but it's all quite liveable. Young people in general I find to be very polite. I have a friend back in this area who can only be described as very comfortably off, lives in a big house in a tiny village and her chances of seeing a chav or a hijab are a million to one, doesn't stop her muttering about "The way the country's going" |
