Yes, they can seem rather sheltered.

I love this weather. We are renovating our garden, so I get to spend plenty of time out there. We are working towards making it low maintenance, for us, and for if we want to sell it in the future. It's not huge, but has lots of bits to it.
Are you still working in the same line of business? Travel, if I remember correctly!
Good memory! I do work in travel but now specialise in cruise & river cruise holidays. So, if you want to book a cruise...

Great week to be doing your garden and I'm glad you're enjoying it. I can't wait to work on my own garden. We are currently renting, but it's weird, I still feel more settled then I ever did in Canada.

River cruise holidays? Now you have my attention! Do share. Sounds like something we will have to do once back.

I would like to do the Baltic Cruise. Mr J will take a bit of persuading, though!

It's wonderful. Hubby and I did an 8 day on the Danube from Budapest to Passau, Germany passing through Vienna, Salzburg and a couple of smaller cities. Small ships, all-inclusive, docking right near the city. You can also cruise from Amsterdam along the Rhine, in France, Italy Portugal, Vietnam & Cambodia, plus many more. I would highly recommend it!

Hope you can convince him as a cruise is a wonderful way to travel. Lots to do on the ship like a big floating hotel. Unpack once, see many Countries on one trip. Just book it then tell him he's going My hubby never really wanted to cruise but now he loves it.

p.s - sorry to totally hi-jack your thread, Sally!

Thumbs up Re: Seven Months

Thank you for this positive post. I've lived away for 15 years and am moving back with two children under 5 this summer. I've been so anxious lately about the whole process (still waiting to hear about my husband's visa application) but your post has definitely cheered me up!

Sally, it's lovely to hear from you and I'm so glad things are working out for you. I always enjoyed your posts when I was thinking of coming back.

Your experience pretty much mirrors mine although we live in very different places.

I've come to believe that life is 98% about attitude though, so I'm not surprised that you're enjoying life.

I think it's partly the British loving to moan and partly insecurity. When people asked me 'why did you come back?' I'd say 'because it's brilliant here - so much better than America' and almost always, people would break out into a smile and say something like 'yeah, it's not bad is it?'

After being here a while, you find it washes over you and you even find yourself having a bit of a moan yourself The other day, someone said to me 'isn't it a lovely day?' and I said 'yes, but it's going to be RUBBISH tomorrow.' Couldn't catch myself before it came out of my mouth. Hee!

Thanks! Glad things are good with you, too.

True about the attitude. The country hasn't changed but I appreciate so much now. From gentle spring sunshine to non-sweet bread and shop assistants who call me darlin' No doubt I will join in with the downers at some point too

Here they call you 'love' but it's the same idea

The best thing about the bread is how it toasts. Why doesn't American bread get that crisp outer texture?

Very noticeable also with pitta bread and crumpets.

It the over-proccessed refined flour. Butter on toast - my main staple after school many moons ago.
