Made It To Edinburgh!

Well, after a lengthy journey that started in Seattle, and had a stopover in Louisville KY, hubby and I are now both back in Scotland. He flew over at the end of July, and I just arrived 13th Sept. so I'm still a bit jet lagged. It was a pretty stressful flight over, due to massive delays in Newark airport. I was supposed to leave at 8:10pm, but we didn't leave until 4 gate changes and 4 1/2 hours later around midnight. I was really lucky that the flight even took off, as a lot of other flights were being cancelled. Let's just say that once I was on the plane, and the captain personally verified our 2 cats had been loaded, I finally breathed a huge sigh of relief. One word of advice from me would be, that if you are traveling with pets, make sure you have enough of a buffer on your health certificate to reschedule flights in case of cancellation (since the cert is only good for 10days).

I met 2 brilliant OAPs during my wait. One was returning to Ireland for the first time in 17 years - her daughters were treating her to a trip back for a family reunion. And the other was a Scottish lady who had lived in the US for 23 years, but had moved back to the UK a few years ago. They were very interesting characters to say the least. She reminded me quite a bit of my grandma who likes to just talk nonstop, and made the waiting a bit more tolerable. Gotta love chatty old ladies!

Now I'm looking forward to making our new flat home, and getting settled in, and getting back to work.

Welcome back! I remember when you were here before and have followed your travels back to the US and back again. As a ping-ponger myself I know how hard it is - take time to enjoy yourself!

Thanks everyone! Indeed, we are going to give ourselves time to settle in this time, and really figure out what/where we want. We are both sick of moving, and really want to give somewhere a long term go of it.

I'm really looking forward to living here in Edinburgh, and seeing all the nooks and crannies. We really want to take the time to learn this city, and all the great things to do here.
