Re: Restaurants
Looking good then !! I can't see how a new resto and bar could possibly fail. Absolutely no real competition and hundreds of owners all gagging to go somewhere local rather than going into town. We used to shoot over the bridge to eat at Lupi's until he closed. (monte francisco). I'm sure Jags would still be a success were it not for the legalities. Can't wait !!

Re: Restaurants
Hi, One of the conditions that my investors had to move forward with the purchase of the commercial unit in Esuri was for the lift to be functioning. As this is needed to run a business on the top floor. The bank provided the funds and below is a photo taken today of a technician putting the lift through its paces. I expect full inspection by next week. And I look forward to releasing the full information of the new services and facility that will be opening soon on Costa Esuri. Covid may have slowed it down slightly but it also emphasised the need for more facilities on Costa Esuri. I have just signed off on the project managing and really looking forward to getting it to key in hand stage.

Professor Vincenzo Romano Spica is an expert in public health from the University of Rome and one of the lead authors of a paper on swimming pool safety during Covid-19. He tells HuffPost UK he believes it’s safe to go swimming – and he would feel comfortable going swimming himself, in Italy, where he lives.
Chlorinated pools are considered safest, as they’re maintained and regularly disinfected, which can help to deactivate the virus. The World Health Organisation (WHO) suggests “swimming in a well-maintained, properly chlorinated pool is safe”.

Re: Restaurants
No news and unlikely to be good news. H19H is not in a commercially zoned area of Costa Esuri. Once there was a formal denunciation then the town hall cannot turn a blind eye. It can't open except as a private non-commercial club for Ayala until it is rezoned by Andalusia junta.

Re: Restaurants
That is good news Michael. When do you estimate completion?
Can you find a minute or 10 to update your C19 page please. It has been a really valuable source over the last 6 months. We are still hoping to drive over via the chunnel, but this much depends on whether France and Spain lock us all down again.

Re: Restaurants
Wow its been ages since I posted in this thread! My favourite! So Ill mention a few places
One important point. The restrictions West of Faro, have come East. We had lunch in Monte Gordo, yesterday and had to show a negative Covid Test - they accepted our certificates of double vaccination. The terrace was packed so I suppose that they had no proof, in order to enter the resto.
Last week, we ate at the new resto UCA directly behind the Eurotel hotel, and owned by them, you can call the hotel to reserve. it looks like a huge building but is actually not. Id say about the same size as the expensive Pezinhos n'areia under the Panoramico. We celebrated a big anniversary and had a great day there. Taxi to La Guarita bar, wonderful views, with a 'Marque' bottle of Champagne costing half of what youd pay in France! Laurent Perrier. The had run out but gave us a bottle of the more expensive Mumm at the same price. Then a wander down to Pezinhos... For a wonderful meal... Great for special occasions.
Back to UCA.... The food was good, at UCA, small portions, service was attentive, perhaps a little too 'much'. Portion size was small compared to Panoramico (there they are huge!) , and Id say that there are some 'teething' problems, they got the bill wrong for example. The setting is excellent for the views - on the beach raised up. It was expensive and for us its an occasional place to visit - not a regular place.
An excellent fish resto is nearby in Altura, cooked on a bbq. The fact that there is often a queue shows how popular it is. We've never had a bad meal there, its basic but high up on our list. The pin on the map shows where it is. (The resto Ze de Tasca above the pin on the 125 is always busy also cooking meat and fish on the bbq).
UCA has stiff competition for example A Chamine nearly next door door to the Eurotel
We were surprised at all the boardwalks in Altura, going nearly to Praia Verde ... And all the way to Manta Rota, all built since we were last here. That must have cost a lot! Personally we prefer to walk on the beach to Manta Rota and back. But the boardwalk is still very pleasant.

Re: Restaurants
WHAYYYYY , I do feel there is some normality when I read a "Jon resto review" - keep on with them Jon, always good to read and have suggestions of where to go.
IF we do manage to get out there mid Aug hope you and Catherine will still be there and we can meet up.
Take care

Re: Restaurants
Open at lunchtime only. Closed Sundays. I suggest you get there a bit before 12noon PT, to reduce the wait. We arrived at 12:25. And the queue just got longer, behind us, and was still long after we left. This must be one of the most popular restos we have in our area.
Finally the daily board of available food isn't always perfectly filled out, so ask the waiter for the fish you want or to tell you what's available. He has it written on his pad. Also giant tiger prawns (Camaro tigre) may be available too, worth asking directly. They are never on the board.
Bon appetit

Re: Restaurants
We are the same, re timing, but had to get back after lockdown. Normally its too hot and busy (for us) in high season.
Its true that many of the customers are Portuguese tourists obviously fresh from the beach.
However the resto remains very popular in lower season too. Obviously not as much as at the moment. We discovered this 'plaice' a few years ago and we've waited previously and always try to get there early. Which is 1pm ST for us. Its a favourite of ours.
We could be back out in early October - if we cross, we'll have a good nosh-up in one of the many options
