Sorry John, in answer to Mike J we think the Kohinoor in Tavira is better than the Punjab.
Both are good.

Both are good.

We will try the Kohinoor next time for comparison. The only reason we haven't is that it always looks empty. But fair's fair.

Does anybody have an update on the new restaurant that was opening on CE near the new villas being built. A Thai restaurant was mentioned I believe?

it has not opened and no hope for the immediate future. The menu will not beThai but may include specials. The only place to eat on Esuri is the “shop” which has increased staff and added to the menu.

I think it went down the Black Hole of costa esuri - never to be seen again. I just wish they would reinstate the full menu at the GC.

Maybe the black hole will have a spark of light come the new year and be shining about Easter. Don't quote me nor shoot me :-)

I agree, why stop the food at the golf club just because the course has closed. All they are doing is helping to bring the place down to its knee’s. Being back the food and keep the locals coming!

No chef no food. As far as I can see there is only really Patrica doing it all!

The purpose of the GC was to provide meals for golfers - the rest of us were a bonus- hence: no golfers, no food. Probably in the small print of its licence. Once again we are stuffed by the ayuntimiento!

Re: Restaurants

When they announced the closure of the golf course, someone here predicted that the club could not survive without the golfers.

It makes sense, its a big place = high costs. Add personnel costs etc then add that the current management are not enthused about the future... IMO I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I cant see how just a bar & food place with the cost base that comes with it (and a very unpredictable future) could be a going concern or even attractive to the right kind of experienced person, who, actually, could make it work in other circumstances.

So we have only one place on the huge CE development, loved by many, but also avoided by many. It simply can't be all things to all people.

Shame !! ....Once upon a time we had three places all doing well, covering (some of) the diverse needs of the varied CE population. Consider that then we had LESS occupancy/footfall etc. and a functioning golf course.

It does surprise me that people are praising the old regime. I don't think any golf members have received any refunds from their paid up fees, some of which were only paid out a matter of a few days before the closure.

Patricia did an excellent job but lets face it she was only running down the stock for the lessee.

I choose to have faith that the deal is extremely close to being notarized.

I choose to have faith that the new owners will respect the property, invest in the course and facilities and provide a golfing and recreational jewel for the future use of all.

Isla Canela golf management have the same goals as every resident, both golfers and non-golfers; to have a very successful golf club with a flourishing food and beverage operation.

I am sure that Pryconsa have the goal of making Costa Esuri GC a very successful Stay & Play destination.

Latest news is if and it is big if Pryconsa are only buying the West course they do not want to be involved in the clubhouse but would make use of downstairs for the caddyshop. All watering has ceased so if something does happen in October there will be a lot of money and time to bring the course back so captains wench is on the money with Christmas. However the existing owner did not think the offer was good enough and the buyer will surely want to reduce the cost if the course continues to deteriorate. There is a lot of water to flow under this bridge before we can raise a cheer.

Where did you get OCTOBER from ? I've read back and did not see any mention of October. Mind, we seem to have hi-jacked the restaurant topic into the GC now.
