Default Parking in Ayamonte

Are we back to paying to park in Ayamonte? Or is it just the gold (ora) zone?

I thought the council removed the pay machines. Have they been reinstated? Is it going to be all year or just high season?

They have been reinstated by the Andulucia Junta, against the wishes of the Ayuntamiento which claims not to have resources to manage them. It was an election stunt by a previous Mayor but it's been a bit of a disaster and with the tourist season approaching I can imagine there have been a load of complaints.

I hope they do something about that horrible threatening man who intimidates people using the parking in front of El Jamon.

I am sure there used to be, you had to use the machine in the colour coded area as they allowed different lengths of time.

Some of those 'parking attendants' [self appointed] are ok and quite respectful, which they should be considering they are virtually asking for money when they shouldnt. However, one of two are very aggressive, the one on the other side of the marina, has a beard and a dog, large chap, he is very offensive. He has told me to 'F' off, has kicked a box towards my wife and been generally obnoxious. Im guessing the effects of too much alcohol. The one by El Jamon is quite bad too. Complaints have been made about them to the Mayor and the police, but, what happens? Nothing. Not good for the tourist industry in Ayamonte, if only the Mayor and police realised that, when tourists are harassed by these people. And of course, if you refuse to pay them anything due to their demanding tones, and walk off, then you're always wondering if there will be a new 'scratch' on your car when you return!

In the past the different colours denoted different prices. The exception was in the carpark near the Fish dock. The Green area was for longer stays, up to 8 hours I believe

The scrawny woman who patrols the Marina area is very aggressive and can also tell other beggars to FO. I ALWAYS REFUSE TO GIVE ANY MONEY. I think it only fuels their drink/drug habit which increases the aggression. The Ayuntamiento
should take action they harass us in Costa Esuri for footpath crossing task!

I'm afraid I take the opposite view and usually give them 50c especially if they wave me into a space - even did this when they were previously paypark . In return I usually get a 'gracias', no aggression and a smile. It seems little enough for a quiet life. I take your point about drink and drugs but salve my conscience with the thought that they may have kids to feed. 😐

When confronted with these people I always state that I will pay only when I return and find my car undamaged.
A policy I have always followed.

This has just been posted on CERA facebook site re: parking, I appreciate its all in the translation, or not, but I cant make head or tail of it! Does it mean pay for parking is back on, or does it mean it was going to be back on, they've spent money putting the parking meters back up, which I have seen, and now its suspended again?

The Mayor of ayamonte congratulates the ayamontinos on the suspension of the blue zone
He points out that "it is merit only from social pressure and not those who want to hang medals that do not correspond"
After being made public on this friday that the public company of ports of Andalusia suspends the implementation of the agora area in the centre of ayamonte, the mayor of the city, Alberto Fernández, has stated that " pressure from civil society and Of the local businessmen and traders, together with the threat of upcoming demonstrations against this measure, they have managed to have the EPA finally decided to suspend the launch of the ora zone ".
Fernández has added that " the junta de andalucía itself burned ayamonte by installing parking meters, awarding a contract and hearing the opinion of the ayamontinos, and now the psoe, who is truly responsible for the ora area, in order to promote its candidate to City Mayor, announces his suspension, after only a few days ago told local entrepreneurs that it would be very difficult to withdraw this service implanted by the socialists who ruined trade in the city centre, before being cancelled by the current Government team on arrival at city hall ".
The first edil has criticized that "you aim at this, which is merit only from the, local entrepreneurs and social pressure, someone who tries to lie to citizens with misleading photos signing documents for those who have no competition".
