Lightbulb Work in Spain remotely for a UK company

Hi all

I wanted to know if there’s anyone on here who works for a UK company but works remotely and effectively resides in Spain. I am looking to emigrate and I wondered if anyone could give me some advice/contacts. I would happily work for a Spanish company, however my first option would be a UK company. I’d appreciate any input.

I'm in a similar position but have only arrived here 10 days ago, so also need help on which way to go and can't give much advise.

I am a part owner of a UK company and also one of it's directors. So I can decide if I'm employed by the company which would then give me a salary, or just get a monthly retirement payment.

I have spoken with 2 lawyers here (Gran Canaria) and both have said that if you want to keep it simple then just go for early retirement. Setting up as self employed (Autonimo) would only give the advantage of being able to clam back on some household bills and fuel. I think I remember that one lawyer said that if you were an early retiree then you will only get taxed on the amount you get less your house rental costs.

I'm still chatting with people about my situation and if I know anything new will let you know.

There are several threads on this subject already in this forum. A couple I could find:

Live in Spain, work for UK remotely

Living in Spain working for a UK company.

Who Should I Pay My Tax To? UK or Spain?

If you search, you may find more.

Good luck.

Is there any limit to the age you can 'retire'?

You can retire (ie. stop working) at any age but you cannot be paid a pension under 55 (with some exceptions).

Do you know what the exceptions are Fred.

Does being a UK company director allow being paid a pension under 55.

Not Fred.. Exceptions tend to be high risk or occupations which have low retirement ages
Deep sea divers, footballers etc

Nowadays I tend to think of DC drawdown pensions as building society accounts invested in a variety of bonds, shares and cash
There is nothing to stop you taking the pension pot earlier than 55 but you will attract all sorts of tax for taking it early
Whether this tax is applicable in Spain - you need to talk to an IFA

I am waiting for early retirement myself - in fact one of my pension providers has kindly given me this on my login page
