Default Fibre Broadband

Hi. When we were in Costa Esuri last September, we noticed workmen laying what looked like fibre broadband across Costa Esuri and as far as Vistas Hermosa. Does anyone know if or when this going live please?

Thanks
S and B

It was installed for Orange so you could ask in the shop in Ayamonte when they will be offering services. It's a bit strange as it's nearly a year since the cable was pulled. I asked in the shop when it was being done but my Spanish wasn't good enough and they just handed me a standard brochure.

Many thanks, MikeJ. I’m afraid our Spanish wouldn’t be up to the mark either! Hopefully more info will emerge soon.

Like everything this takes time, I remember a lot of excitement on the forum about fibre. When it finally becomes available - I think the forum will light up.

I need unlimited broadband as I stream TV. Netflix says you need 3GB to stream 1 hours HDTV. Of course you need the right speed too. Somewhere in the annals of time, I did a calculation and no other package would work. Unfortunately this is the most expensive option. And I havent seen an unlimited package anywhere that isnt on an annual contract paid monthly.

Even though we spend several months a year in CE - paying the most expensive internet for the time we are not there is far too expensive.

Priinet when it works is an excellent option. We pay a reduced rate when away. I can stream real-time in HD. This is my 'hardest' usage so with streaming in the bag - Priinet will handle all my other internet needs. It will have a huge test this high season - as we have the world cup and lots of residents. Last summer our car parks were full - Id never seen them so packed.

Lets hope they can deliver... there have been problems before, hopefully they are much better prepared and experienced for this high season

Thank you for your informative reply, Jon. I am not very technically minded, so will get Barry to make any response. I do know, however, that where we are (Vistas del Guadiana) we are well out of the view of Priinet masts so that isn’t an option for us.
Regards,
Sue

Hi Sue
I've gotten myself into the 'fix' that I have to have good internet at least at home. I don't do email on my phone and rarely connect to mobile data when out. Often nowadays, as you know, you can connect to free wifi in many(e.g) bars and restos. But even then I personally don't want to be on the phone when socialising. I see a lot of it nowadays, with the 'young 'uns', sometimes glued to the phone, which isn't me. I understand that visitors with no internet where they are staying buying a drink and logging in, though

I'm sorry to hear that Priinet wont cover you. I would have hoped that with you being so high up and the mast at Las Colinas, also high up, means you would have a good 'line of sight'.

Good luck in 'getting connected'

Jon

There are lots of people in Vista who use Prinet it may be worth giving Jorge a call and ask him to come and test your apartment. They don’t really have masts as such their relay stations are quite small, we are lined up on the shop and I have never been able to spot it even looking alongside my receiver toward the shop with my binos. They are dotted about Esuri so there may be one closer than you think.

Hello EsuriJohn and Jon-Bxl. Although our development would appear to be high up, our own property is situated in a ‘dip’ in the road. I think I’m correct in saying that someone from Priinet came round a year or so ago and confirmed they couldn’t help us. At the moment Barry uses a Vodafone ‘mi-fi’ gadget. We pay for broadband on a monthly basis whilst we are here in CE, but a permanent arrangement would be more convenient.

Sue & Barry, it may be worth checking with Jorge again. When Priinet first appeared on the scene, we also couldn't get it due to being in a dip, but Jorge put in a repeater in line of site with us (Vista Esuri), and resolved the problem. We have used Priinet successfully ever since.

Hello,
yes they do a lot in the last 12 month . . Befor it was also imposible in the Poligono - But now they install some new antenas and it works perfect . .
And teh best - you pay only when you really need it . . so for the times you are not using the property - you dont pay . .

Billing starts on the 5th of each month, I think.
They ask for 15 days advance notice to switch on the 'full' internet you pay for and also for the 'standby' internet at 7€.
You pay for a full month even if you use a day, which is fair, I think. So e.g if you arrive on say the first of the month, it may be worth hanging on to the 5th, similar logic for your leaving date.

I haven't tried it but they told me that the 7€ standby still allows a 'dribble' of internet, perhaps ok for email.

I don't think he does invoices. Never had an invoice after my initial contract and DD mandate - check your bank account.
