Re: Ethernet components
If it's for powering remote devices such as IP cameras that don't have a nearby power supply then it sounds like you are talking about a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch or hub. These deliver power to run the remote devices over separate wires (not the data wires) in the Ethernet cable. Of course then you have to have PoE compatible devices.

Re: Ethernet components
Hi Fred,
Yes thatās exactly what we need, a POE adapter for one of our security cameras. Unfortunately, the original one went belly-up. Itās a bit specialist, so I doubt Worton would have one but weāll try tomorrow.
Back home, I would order it from Amazon and it would arrive next day :-) Maybe one day we could do that here!

Yes, Worten sells them. Have a look at their web site, eg Switch TP-LINK 8-Port Gigabi PoE SG1008P for ā¬75 which has 4 x PoE ports and 4 x standard ports. It's Ā£45 in Currys though - know anyone coming over from the UK ?

Re: Ethernet components
Dear Sue & Barry
I have a POE injector spare if you'd like it. It came with an wireless access point but I'm using a POE switch. It's a UBIQUITI (quality make). Just let me know.
Kind regards
Paul

Re: Ethernet components
After recommending Worton in Tavira, they let me down I want an extension or replacement for my Cat5 cable, but they only had cheap 3m or 5m and no connectorsš£š£š„

Mike, what is it that you need?

Re: Ethernet components
I need a 1.5m extension to my Cat5 cable. My new smart telly has all its connectors at the opposite end to the old one ā¹ If I could get an in-line connector I could make do with a short cable or else I need a 7.5m cable and would have to replace the whole run back to the router. I was planning to try Carrefour as that's where I got the original cable or failing that a trip to Huelva. Seems like cabled LAN is out of fashionš§

I've got a 2 meter CAT5e patch and an inline connector you can have.
