Re: Corona virus
Michael Halligan is giving a daily analysis of the official stats on the InfoAyamonte Facebook pages. Also adds some specific information about the number of infections in Ayamonte itself.
Worth a look and even joining.

Re: Corona virus
For those who like stats and visual/graphical information, here is an excellent site with worldwide info. Broken down a lot!
Scrolling down 2-3 pages there is a startling visual video-graphical moving chart of 'how confirmed cases of CV have spread' .... Daily
Note they mention that a problem with all these stats is that the numbers are not reported the same way in every country. But this is a problem with any global comparative info out there

Re: Corona virus
Scary stuff UK rates the highest in Europe, and amongst the highest worldwide... Also in numbers per million.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/115725...e-coronavirus/
We should have airbridges with any country with lower rates than the UK (that's a lot!!!). We'll hear today about the policy and the list of countries on Wednesday.
Jon
PS I am no fan of The Sun, would never buy it, but their charts taken from the EuroMOMO study, are quite clear.

Re: Corona virus
This is from a Facebook group who work along with the Police and Guardia Civil
There have been many rumours all over Facebook this morning about Spain going back into lockdown.
There is NO OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION from the Spanish Government yet about a new ‘lockdown’ at all. There is NO official information about borders closing yet. At the moment, the Government is focusing on controlling the small outbreaks across the country.
There has been NO mention yet anywhere about another lockdown or confinement, nor going backwards into different phases (only in some small areas of Spain has this been put in place, to control outbreaks).
Things are ever changing and announcements can be made any moment, if we hear any more information on this we will of course update you.
As always, N332 will translate and publish all government official statements as and when they happen. N332 will only ever post true information from official government sources, never will we post ‘news’ stories as we do not benefit in any way from this page.
Thank you for always trusting N332.

The media have changed the emphasis from a contingency planning scenario to a post-apocalyptic scenario as some parts of the media are wont to do.

Re: Corona virus
It may be that if things get to the extreme situation where people just cannot control themselves and keep having these 'raves' as they are doing in UK and France then any government could take severe control and announce a complete lock down. It depends on human behavior.
Humans are the host carriers of the Covid 19 spread. If they keep going out and spreading it, then the government will, it is inevitable, have to shut down everything again. I am struggeling to understand why that is not more evident to so many many people. We may not like it but stopping human contact, it is the only way to put the brakes on the Pandemic.

Trying to eradicate the virus is a non-starter, that horse was long gone by the time the pandemic was declared. The virus does not want to kill its hosts, that would be stupid, but we do need to create a modus-vivendi with it - so called herd immunity. The vulnerable should be protected, ie shielded, but the younger generation who are not overly effect by the virus, should be encouraged rather than discouraged to spread the virus as much as possible as long as they don't kill their grandparents by visiting them. Until a safe vaccine is available it is the elderly and vulnerable who need to avoid raves and beach parties until it is safe for us to re-join the herd. Yes, I am a shielder and I hate it but realistically it's the only way the human race will survive.

Re: Corona virus
Apparently this was a report from a journalist of a conversation with 2 MPs who speculated that IF the outbreaks become more widespread then Spain MIGHT CONSIDER reintroducing lockdown from 15th September.
The media have changed the emphasis from a contingency planning scenario to a post-apocalyptic scenario as some parts of the media are wont to do.

Re: Corona virus
Politically governments have to be seen to be doing something but a universal lockdown is a blunt instrument and has lots of unwelcome side effects. Stopping all human interactions to stop the virus will devastate the economy.
