10 years last week in Australia
I can't believe it's been 10 years since I moved to OZ back in 2006!
Wind back April 28th 2006
- Just arrived at Sydney airport on a PR visa (thanks BE, been a really big help!)
- Single with a fiancee
- Unemployed
- 62Kgs
- Renting a shared room in Granville
Today
- Proudly an Australian citizen
- Married with 2 Aussie born kids (8 an 4)
- Full time employed
- 82kgs
- Own a house in North Ryde (with 16 years of mortgage left to go )
Thank you so much BE, I would love to return the favour somehow

Re: 10 years last week in Australia
It's weird how things turn out as life goes by. I can remember starting out on a single bed foam mattress on the floor in a spare room in one of the wifes friends rented unit way back in 1980.... with about 4K life savings in the bank, which we used on buying a car and a belated honeymoon driving right up to Cooktown and back over 8 weeks.
Now 36 years later 4 Aussie born and raised kids, the youngest now 18....36 years in the blue collar workforce mostly for state and federal governments. Just about to retire with fantastic superannuation and a 7 figure inner city property..... which I will most likely sell and downsize at some point in order to afford us a lot of bloody holidaying.
Thanks Australia you've made me quite affluent in world terms.
