Working in schools
Hi. I have recently moved to Australia from the UK and would like to work in primary education. I qualified on the GTP scheme, which I understand is not recognised here. Would anyone be able to advise a course that I could do to enable me to teach in NSW? Thanks.

Probably the first thing to be aware of is that there is a big oversupply of primary teachers with many struggling to get work

Hi good luck with your job hunt.
Why don't you try the Graduate Diploma for Education Primary?
It is similar to the course you took and takes about one year.
Should have come to Qld like us instead of NSW...
Maroon is a much nicer colour.

Did AITSL assess your GTP and deem it unsuitable?
If so - your best bet is to (first) look at the BOSTES web site (Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards) in NSW and see what they say, and then contact teacher education programs at universities near where you are going to be living. Just note that NSW has a slightly different system of teacher registration than the other states and territories, reciprocity with other states is not automatic.
