Re: Mummy meets south brisbane
Hey girls forgot to put this on my last post
I was out with hubby last night for a meal and we were talking he is really pleased I have got out there and made friends with you guys so early into our move here in Oz.
He said what about the guys? Your OH's. Would any of them be up for a meet up for a few drinks in the city after work perhaps? I realise some of you have been here a while and probably have their networks/social scene sorted but there are a few like us that have just arrived and he feels that his life is a bit boring these days from just going to work and then spending quality family time but misses those after work drinks or someone to go to the cricket/footy with.
Another idea we talked over was how about doing something all of us as families say meeting at a park one weekend with the kids and having a BBQ and then the guys could get to know each other that way with a sense of having the kids in common.
What do you think? Or more importantly what do your OH think?
Jo

Gaz is up for the cricket but doesn't know if he would take Alex as he can't keep still at the best of times. He'd be chasing hime around the Gabba and on the pitch

Think it would be a great idea to have family meet ups and I'm pretty sure Paul would be up for male meet ups but can't ask at the moment as he is passed out drunk after an afternoon session with the work lads!! And he came home to put olivia to bed!!! (More like himself!)

Re: Mummy meets south brisbane
We could try and sort a meet up in a park for a BBQ sometime in Oct maybe discuss on wed.
Looks like the cricket is a hit with the guys. I will find out whether its worth booking tickets in advance as when we lived in melbourne we just rocked up to the MCG and bought general admission on the day.
I didnt mean that kids had to go with the dads just thought it was worth saying if there were some older kids (think its upto 15) they can go and get in free.
See you on wed

A family meet up at a park sounds great, weekend of 18/19 or 25/26 October would be great for us three. An idea is Rocks Riverside its a lovely park.

Cricket is also a good idea, although Kris couldn't do the Saturday as we are at the RLWC final at the Suncorp.

Re: Mummy meets south brisbane
Hi all
Was good to catch up over lunch today.
Next weeks meet will be on Friday 26th September will be at 11am at New Farm Park next to the childrens playground. There is a little cafe next to the park where you can get snacks and drinks or bring along a picnic.
Not sure if I will be there or not as my due date is the 28th
Hope to be there though
Jo
PS I am posting a new thread for a family meet up so keep an eye out

Re: Mummy meets south brisbane
Sorry all, I didn't get to this weeks' meetup either. Kids were acting up (as usual) and I just didn't have the energy to round them up and make my way to New Farm.
I have also found that because my daughter usually sleep at lunchtime, that an 11am slot is quite difficult for me because she is so grumpy in the evening and the next day if she doesn't have a sleep. So I may not be able to tag along until she is a bit older and ready to give up her lunchtime nap.
Hope you all had a good time.
