Decision Guidance (417 Visa)
Hello everyone,
I'm currently in Australia coming up to the point where I have to fly back to the UK with 0 days of rural work under my belt. Why? I worked for a manufacturering firm to supplement my holiday and I have to return back home to finish my last year of my degree.
But, I absolutely have my heart set on Australia and the Australian people so I want to try my absolute hardest to get some form of residency here.
I still have plenty of time left on my visa but my uni term starts soon. The way I feel at the moment is if I go back to the UK and wait for my visa to finish, the barrier to the possibility of emigrating goes straight back up. On the other hand, if I stay here and go for my second year of the visa, I'm not sure if my degree will carry over and I go back into my 3rd year. In addition, it seems like a lot of time wasted and I feel that in this competitive world one needs a degree (especially in my break neck field of finance).
I would be grateful for any advice and guidance on my potential options.
Thank you very much in advance.

If youdid another year year,do you have a path to PR? If not and australia is the long term goal, best get cracking at making it happen with a degree, although no guarantees your job will be on CSOL or SOL after you qualify and serve the minimum work experience to pass skills assesment.
Also depends a lot on what that degree is in?!

Agree with Teza, go home and finish your degree. Australia's not going anywhere

Go home, get your degree finished, do however much experience is required and check out the lists to see what visas you might find yourself eligible for. Another year WHV will just be prolonging the inevitable. And remember that life is what happens while you are busy making other plans! Take whatever opportunities come your way, don't hitch your wagon to one particular outcome
