We done the same deal a month ago and found the Hotel to be more than adequate breakfast is a self serve buffet which was reasonable, free parking and a bottle of plonk as well Situated over the road from Casino and only a couple hundred yards from pubs mentioned.A cracking little deal IMHO,so much so i'm now off to book another 2 nights and may well join the proceedings on the night ,and the night before (Only downside would be if there was no availability on that night but for us it's ok as you have till end of Jan 12 to use it and we camp out regularly in the city anyways Right i'm off now to book incase there's only 1 room available
It's a no brainer for us really as it costs circa $80 to get a late taxi home anyways

I've been to the Stamford Plaza a couple of times, very nice but not cheap. It's a special occasion thing only.
A valet parker there destroyed the rear wing of our car a couple of years back ... It's a fine way to get some complimentary food and drink is all I can say.
He must have felt bad so there's no point in getting angry, the insurance claim was paid pretty quickly too

Re: Brisbane meet? How does Sat 27th August sound?
Right, now Christmas is out of the way we can concentrate on this one..........maybe we should call it the New Year Meet
Apologies to anyone not keen on the Pig and Whistle, but a quick survey yesterday confirmed that it really does look like the best place for a Saturday night - loads of room both to get to the bar and in the pub in general, and not so loud you can't hear what people are saying!
Place: Pig and Whistle - Eagle Street
Date: Saturday August 27th
Time: 6pm onwards - though if anyone wants earlier we can change that!
Hope to see both new and familiar faces there

Sorry mate but even if the other one is open again I've been there on Sat nights and its heaving, takes hours to get served and you can't talk to anyone cos it really is just too noisy. I used to like it in there on sundays but fri and sat are just too busy if people want to chat.
