We'll be arriving in Brisbane on November 8th and I was wondering if there are any local meet-up places with fellow members here?

Great! How are you settling in? Enjoying it? Once we arrive and the G20 madness settles down so that we can be in the CBD area more easily, it would be great to start meeting some people, I'll PM you in a couple weeks.

Pig and Whistle pubs, UK style and lots of expats drink there with late night soccer on Saturdays. There are three of them I know of, the one by Eagle St on the river is the biggest, my favorite is the smaller one in Queen St mall.

All good so far. I will move into my rental apartment on Thursday and have a couple of job interviews lined up next week. I moved here from New Zealand so it was quite straightforward (but disappointed that immigration don't stamp passports these days, it's all electronic). I am suffering with severe jet lag as I flew here from London late last week - just glad I don't have to start work this week. My advice for people coming over with a job lined up is to give yourself a couple of weeks to acclimatise.

Queen St is 24/7, although they aren't licensed after 2am. Does mean that there is somewhere to watch football on TV when there are matches in the evening UK time.

Yeah I love it....always end up 'sad lonely business traveller' there when up in Brissy, but I feel very comfortable there .
