I guess they are just part of life & you just need to be aware of them. I know at sometime between now & November, I am going to have to educate myself about what is poisonous etc, but better leave it until the tickets are booked

We do see them from time to time but I wouldn't be too worried about Redbacks:

Redback spider bites rarely cause significant morbidity, and deaths are even more rare[11]. A significant proportion of bites will not result in envenoming or any symptoms developing. It is believed that thousands of people are bitten each year across Australia, although only about 20% of bite victims require treatment.[12] Children and the elderly or those with serious medical conditions are at much higher risk of severe side-effects and death resulting from a bite. No deaths have been reported since the introduction of antivenom in 1956.[13]

We had the front door installed today so this brings us one step closer to lock up. the bifold and ensuite 2 door go in tomorrow fingers crossed.. on either side of the front door there will be a full bank of louvres. this is why we chose the translucent glass for the front door so the front of the house can be completely private. the suffeits were also installed into the portico and the roof guy came back to fix the roof up. he still managed to miss the dropper for the down pipe though.
we had a minor issue with the roof today. for some reason the roof trusses were not engineered to take the solar hotwater so we were unable to provide the certification for the certifier when he checked the roof today. its getting the gyprock fitted tomorrow so i have to get the chippy back first thing tomorrow to brace the trusses which have been re engineered to take the load of the hotwater system. probably going to cost us another $500 which wasnt budgeted for. i also quit my job today as id had a gut full which leaves me without a vehicle. ive got a few things in the pipeline so its no worries. steph continued the painting on her days off and the pool guys are coming back tomorrow. steph also managed to find a huntsman spider on site today. its turning into a wildlife thread.
also a thankyou to the posters. at times i cant be bothered to keep the thread going but if people are reading it i will keep posting.

Please do continue with the thread, you have a beautiful home and I for one can not wait to see the finished result. I don't post on BE much at all, so it isn't just your thread.

We would like to build, which is why we are interested in your build, but that is when we eventually sell our house in the UK, its only been on the market 9 months

we managed to get the roof trusses fixed up first thing this morning thanks to ross the chippy. if there is any advice i could give any potential housebuilders is get a good chippy on board from the start. here are a couple of photos. firstly of the suffeits in the portico which went in yesterday. the remaining doors and windows came today and we are very happy at how they look. the silver powdercoated aluminium is not very popular up here and not a common sight so we were not sure how it was going to look. mrs youngy bent my arm a little bit and im pleased she did because they really suit the house colour. the first photo shows the front door again but this time with the louvre galleries installed although still missing the louvres. the second shot is of the pool/ ensuite 2 bathroom door with the translucent glass that i mentioned yesterday.

this is what a $7000 bifold door looks like. 5 metres by 2.1. we initially were going to have sliders (the cheapest) then we went for a stacker (in the middle)and then went what the hell. if your building you should have what you want. this invariably sent the glazing budget out of the window but looking at it we are comfortable in the decision to go for it. it also opens the house up creating a nice living area and is a feature ( we think anyway). bifolds do have there drawbacks though. mainly they are difficult to screen effectively so no good if you dont like bugs in the house. this is why we selected the end leaf to be able to open independantly as shown in the photos.

the pool guys came and continued the steel on the pool today. its starting to take shape. you can see all the form of it now

the gyprocking also started today. this will take a couple of weeks. they have got most of the sheets on the walls today. photos are of the tv room, corridor to beds, our bed and the kitchen.
