Default Young female, psychiatric nurse needing advice on moving to work in Melbourne

Hi guys. My names ashley from glasgow. I'm young, single and seriously thinking about making a move to oz to work. I qualified in 2009 with my degree in psychiatric nursing. I have now nearly 2 years of working with addictions and social work regarding child protection cases behind me. I have no ties to stop me however the thought is naturally daunting. I've lived in perth, western oz for a few months back in 2009 and wasn't impressed. Beautiful place of course however i am a city chic and was told by backpackers whom i met in pubs in perth then i would like Melbourne better as it is more modern and cosmopolitan. Is this the case? Would love to hear from folk. Thanks

Welcome in the forum. I am sure you will like Melbourne, it is a great city to live in and you will not have a problem finding work as Psych nurses are in demand.

Burning bridges in the uk prior to visa being granted may well result in serious time served at her majesties pleasure... This may, or may not affect your future application ...

Burning down houses, schools and shopping centres wont help your cause either... Providing of course there are huge insurance claims involved and no security footage to proove your involvement.

I need a consultant psychiatrist right now, preferably a private one who will prescribe HUGE amounts of drugs and get me into somewhere nice in the city for a week or two of good food, peace, quiet and walks in Kings Park... In fact the hospital I worked at when I first arrived would do me just fine ... Even if the Wilton carpets drove me mad at the time...

If you are a city chick then either Melbourne or Sydney and even Brisbane on the east side would suit you better .........
