Yorkeys Knob!???????
Hi guys,
Well we'l be arriving in cairns in 4 weeks and started looking at rentals! Just wondering what yorkeys knob is like?? Prices seem a little cheaper than cairns north that we had been looking at. Anyone up in that location? is it bad for flight path noise and whats the road like back into cairns???
Any advice would be helpfull!
Thanks
Stu

We're at Kewarra Beach.
Yorkey's is a lovely spot but directly on the flight path and next door but one to the airport.
Lots of 'older' houses, with a few new developments interspersed...mainly apartments on the esplanade.
Yorkey's boat club did nice meals until they refurbed the kitchen and bumped up the prices to pay for it...went from child-friendly atmosphere and casual menu of steaks / pasta / seafood to arty-farty crap with a price tag to match...
From what I've seen of rental prices, you'd be better off renting on the further northern beaches...

New a lady who lived there and she said it was nice but lot of sand flies etc but not sure how true this was. Lots of older properties.
Northern beaches are probably the best bet if you want to be by the sea. Cheaper rentals can be found further south, no beaches but you could be surrounded by rain forest instead! Depends on what you want really.

He's retired and moved on now though so don't go there any more by choice. Pretty over-rated IMO.
I agree with the others ref flight path, the club grub and as a place to live. Wouldn't make the first page if I drew up a list.
The long road into it is low lying and floods in heavy rain cutting the community off from the rest of Cairns.
Not a regular event or one that lasts more than a day or two at a time but still it does happen.

Aint your missus one of the recruited nurses ?
Don't you have free accomodation for a few weeks ?
If so that will give you time to look around a bit and make a decision.

Back to your question, you could always ask Jordan what she thought of his knob?

Yeah, might try that - got Ste's mum arriving soon and she likes it there.
