Halfway between the gold coast and brisbane you will have the option of living in areas ranging from really local, as in beenlegh, windaroo or loganholme to brisbane southside like carindale or mount gravatt. if you prefer to get closer to the coast there is ormeau or helensvale within a bit of a commute up the highway. once you arrive and rent for awhile you will have a better idea of which best floats your boat,

realestate.com.au will let you search and see what is available

best wishes

Yatala itself is a fairly industrial area, but like others have said there are loads of places nearby depending on what you prefer. Yatala is about 45 minutes to Brisbane CBD (longer in peak times) and between 20 & 40 minutes to the Gold Coast depending on where you go. I live in Ormeau (about 5 minutes from Yatala), and although only about 15 minutes to the coast, if you want the beaches, then about 30 minutes to the Gold Coast.

A similar thought went through my mind. There's a British shop close if that floats your boat. Well it's more Scottish but it's still ok. ;)

Don't know it really TBH. Have driven past there loads of times and bought a few pies. :D

It's about halfway between Briz and the GC.

Scotland is still part of Britain though innit? Or is it? Have they finally cut the savages loose?

I've been there actually (the shop and the country) that's where I got my Twiglets and some Irn-Bru for the OH (Scottish-themed works do, not for me  :D).

I think they pretend they're not part of Britain but that's possibly a different thread. Last time I bought a packet of twiglets from there they were about four months past their sell by date. They were rank.

There are many pros for me regarding living in Oz versus the UK but takeaway food, in general, is not one of them :D

Hey, at least I can cook these days ...

Indeed a good pie shop! ...

Admittedly, first I ever had there was all pastry and no meat, but soon learnt it was a one off as had heaps of lovely pies from there since.

My son works there and says they sell 25,000 pies a week, and 10-15,000 on a Sunday alone! ...

Can't all be wrong!
