I know this has probably been asked but as Xmas fast approaches and my youngest son wants Santa to bring him the new xbox...i don't want to say" no because it might not work in Oz". Also my eldest sons PS2 will this work there too?
Someone told me it wont because the discs are different like in the USA?
As i know nothing about them, other than dust them..do i buy this xbox or not and do i bother with games for the PS2 for Xmas?

Ps2 will work here - the discs are all 'pal' coded - thats what the difference is if a PS2 game has 'pal' on it then it works in your PS2 - all the Aussie ones do. US ones are NTSC so US games wont work and Im not sure about japan bought games.

New Xbox- who knows - time for you to do some googling! I dont know if the Xbox will be region coded or games will be region coded etc. Do a search on www.google.com for xbox 360 region coded - that should sort you out some light reading.

Son bought his Xbox and it works fine. He plays DVDs on it which he has bought here.

Hubby brought his ps2 over & all the games he buys/rents are working on it,although we have bought a few dvd films & tried to play them on it but very few have but im sure its just something simple that needs adjusted

Uk PS2 wont play some Aus region dvd's because its coded for region 2 DVD's.

It will play all the games

The op was asking about the NEW Xbox 360 not the old one -the old one works fine (with same DVD restriction) and Xbox games here work on UK Xbox's.
