Wrong National Anthem!!

Wrong National Anthem!!
At the Davis Cup final in Melbourne, opening ceremony on Friday, the trumpeter James Morrison played the Spanish National Anthem he was given to learn. Problem was it turned out to be the Republican National Anthem from 1931-1939. The Spanish team and officials were justifiable indignant and upset and the Spanish Sports Minister walked out in protest. OOPS!!, what a terrible mistake - like Hawaii Five O tune for the US anthem in The Dish.

Update - apparently Tennis Australia use a CD of various national anthems for such occasions. They gave it to James Morrison to learn the Spanish anthem which was on the CD and he duly did that. Unfortunately it was the wrong one on the CD!!
They tried to apologise a thousand times and played the correct anthem at the beginning of days 2 and 3. The Spanish Sports Minister won't let it go though - he is going to get the Spanish Embassy in Australia to take it up with the Australian government.
I sat up and watched the final day live and was delighted when Mark Philippoussis won the cup for Australia. As the (English) commentator said it was Swing Low Sweet Chariot last week but it was Advance Australia Fair this week.
The Fanatics (group of supporters) also created a laugh near the end of the doubles rubber on Saturday when they started singing Bye, Bye, Corretja to the tune of Tom Jones 'Delilah'.

Was he upset because that was when Franco was in power? The fascist? That would be pretty upsetting. If not, while not just smile?

Pointless pub quiz question:
Did you know that the only country in Europe that has a national anthem with no words is Spain ??
No idea whether this had any effect on this cock up or not
