Now that Mr Brown has managed to convince his mad neighbour that we shouldn't join the Euro, expect a nice little jump.

I can remember Little Johnny saying I will not bring in GST , You have to be naive if you think that Britain will not join the Euro ,the money markets have more insight than you , needs must its going to happen.

The decision to delay Britain's entry into the single European currency will be met with dismay by many UK businesses.

Manufacturers, in particular, will be cursing Chancellor Gordon Brown and his famous five economic tests.

They have complained long and hard about the strength of the pound - and the vagaries of the exchange rate - ruining their competitiveness abroad.

A bird in the hand means game pie for dinner.

For those who need to exchange money soon, it's good news for them. I don't see it lasting long either, though.

Good research note, PB. Not much use for GBP/AUD rate but many of the points made about the USD and US economy hold true for GBP and UK economy, so I expect to see further deterioration in GBP vs AUD.

The british public will still have to vote for the euro and last weeks poll was 68% against.I think tony blair would love to join but the politicians in uk will not say it is the right time to join unless they are certain they have strong public support.More chance of the bnp winning the next election .
