Would you live next to a family day care?
We have found a house to buy but now found out there is a family day care centre next door. Would it worry you? Would you stay away?
Advice please

If the area was a good area, and the street was nice, it wouldn't bother me I don't think.

I don't think it would bother me. Hearing kids playing (shouting, laughing, screaming!) is usually a happy sound. The good thing about family day care is the noise only happens in the day, so your nights shouldn't be disturbed by it.

There's a maximum of only 4 or 5 children (not what sure what the current allowed number is), - so not really different to a large family, and hopefully because they are being handled by a childcare professional the carer won't be shouting at them! Pick-up & drop-off is quick & usually all at the same time (so no real impact on traffic / parking). Wouldn't bother me at all.

I'd much rather live next to a family day care than a crack house.

We used to live in an old School House, in between an infant and junior school.
Apart from increased traffic in the morning and afternoon we didn't have any issues at all, and my dad worked shifts. (Mind you, if he was on nights he used to have a 'glass' of whisky to help him sleep)

Not sure if you mean a Family Day Care house, operated by one person with a maximum number of children based on house size, or, a Long Day Care Centre which could have loads of kids.
Either way, its just daytime noise and as one other person said its all happy sounds. After 6pm its all quiet and at weekends nothing at all. In fact, I would go so far as to say I would prefer it over a 'normal' house next door if its the Long Day Care Centre.
