Just some general advice would be great. I work in insurance as a life and disability underwriter and my husband is a computer programmer. We have 3 kids 1-11yrs and would love to emmigrate.

Would we qualify at all

My OH is a computer programmer and we have lodged our assessment with the ACS. He is a c++ programmer and can qualify for 60 points and his occupation is on MODL list. First off you need to check how points you have. For a 175 skilled visa you will need 120. Best place to start would be to have a look at these websites:

You'll probably get more help there, although you'll likely need to provide a bit more information.

1. Your ages, some visas have an age limit so you'll need to mention this
2. Do you have any relatives in oz or someone who could sponsor you (might be helpful to know if you're short on points).
3. What are your education background (degrees, etc)

Click on visas & immigration on the left, and then click on workers.

Also.... now that you're on the Australia board you'll have to keep in mind the time difference. It is now almost midnight in Brisbane, so you might not get any more responses from the Aussies for a bit.

You could have a look at the jobs web sites such as seek.com.au as one of you may be able to get a job with the company sponsering your move on a 457 visa which is what i am doing. It has the advantage of not needing points and a lot of companies will help out with relocation costs and pay for flights
