Hi,

I have been following the threads regarding the employment situation in Oz for a little while now.

I am planning to head to Oz (Sydney) in November this year (travelling around the world first for 5 months first) but would be giving up a good job in the UK to do so and could postpone the whole trip for 6 months meaning I would instead be arriving in Sydney around Feb/March next year.

I do have enough funds to support myself in Sydney for a year and as my family live out there, I will have a support network (but not somewhere to live as they are in 1 bed flats).

I currently work in the Insurance Industry as a Key Account Manager and would be looking for a similar job in Sydney.

Having read the posts regarding rising unemployment etc I am seriously considering postponing for 6 months and saving up more money before making the leap.

What do you think?

Anyone on here working in the Insurance industry in Sydney that could confirm the job situation?

I just want to make a sensible decision given the current economic climate and have been hoping that maybe, just maybe the job situation in Sydney for insurance specialist is better?

Everyones thoughts welcome as I have to make a decision quickly on this in order to change my tickets.

My thoughts, for what they are worth:

Make the move, think positive and go for it.

If you don't you'll only regret it later in life. If it all turns sour, you can go home.
